Ennore Port registers 59% rise in cargo

In handling cargo, during the first half of this financial year, Ennore Port has achieved the fastest growth rate among all major ports with a 59 per cent increase.    The statistics have been revealed that this task has been achieved by Ennore Port at a stage when ports across the country are struggling to keep up the momentum due to economic slowdown.    Ennore Port handled 12.68 million tonne of cargo during April-September this year, as against 8 million tonne handled last year.  The port authorities said that the port handled 6.92 million tonne of coal cargo from April to September, when compared to 4.13 million tonne handled in the same period last year.
